Gelatin is used to create hard and soft capsules to enclose medication and supplements. Hard capsules consist of two parts and are made when a stainless steel mold is dipped into a warm gelatin solution. The capsules are later filled with a medication. Soft capsules, also called soft gels, consist of one part and are made from sheets of gelatin. They are filled with a medication as they are made.
